" Deep into that darkness peering,
long I stood there wondering, fearing,
Doubting,
dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before.."

Facebook can be a wonderful thing.  I had a chance to "Add as a Friend" one of my cousins with whom I grew up but haven't had any contact in about 20 years.   Once, she posted some lines from Edgar Allan Poe's Annabel Lee.  Of course, I had to respond with lines about the kingdom by the sea!  The best part was the fact that here we are, 20 years later with barely a word to the other, and yet, we still shared Annabel Lee.   It also got me thinking about Edgar Allan Poe, one of my favorite writers, and just in time for Halloween!   Hence, the quote above!  I'll give you one guess where it's from?  :)

One of our local guilds recently had a judged quilt show that my friend, Kim, entered with the train quilt she made for her hubby.   I'm pleased to say that it won 3rd place in of the categories!

Talking about quilt shows (and Kim!), I'd like to share the raffle quilt I designed for the County Line Quilters guild show (March 2010). Several guild members made it and Kim machine quilted it quite exquisitely!  (Say that 10x fast!)    The second picture is a close up of the applique section where you can also see where Kim did some McTavishing.  Just incredible!

Here's one of my favorite quilt designs - just in time for the season!  This Jacks quilt appeared on the cover of Quilter's World Oct 2008.    I have seen a couple of other versions of this quilt already (quilters always work FAST!) and each one is just fun and wonderful!

So, this weekend, get those costumes out, the candy ready, watch the Phillies and remember to turn your clock back!  LOL  What a busy weekend!!!

Quilt Gem Number ONE

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em!

So, after having had a blog for several months and never having posted anything, here I am - taking the plunge!

One of the things I enjoy is our guild's charity quilt group meetings.  We play with fabric, make up simple patterns and eventually, we make quilts for charity!  Currently, our quilts go to Christ's Home in Warminster, PA who takes in children of all ages who are in need.

Learn more about Christ's Home at http://www.christshomeforchildren.org/

Check out a snippet of one of my charity quilt UFOs - it's the background of my blog header!  I just know I'm going to have a hard time letting go of this one! :)

It's a simple pattern of focus fabric strips alternating with strips of coordinating fabric rectangles.  I think it's a definite quilt-in-a-day!

Until next time....
